the last reviewer stated this product is “not supported” thats BS. This product is a repackaged bitdefender total protection if you use their online site support u will have live support in bout 15 mins. I was curious at install when vista said there were security issues and then it had said bitdefender needs to be updated so i updated the install it was fine then i went to the website a couple times to see how long it would take tech support both times it was 15 mins or less then i went and looked at reviews.
for those that are technically challenged there are pictures. this program is the same as bit defender total protection which for most reviewers give it between 85 and 90. As with most programs you should back up your system before any major changes such as cleaning the registry. For the price this is a good suite 2 yrs for 19. 95 and it should provide good protection. this program has 3 settings 1 for novice two for intermediate and thirdly for the expert that feels the need to tweak everything. It has a gaming mode, parental controls that are subpar to net nanny but bout average for security suites. I’f you feel money burning in your pocket you might go with norton internet security 2010 or karspaskey internet security 2010. For the money though and security that will protect you and i. purchase this product as i did.

I purchased the product after two years of using Norton, because I saw it in Wal-Mart for half the price. The packaging proclaims the “testimonials” of “actual customers” who assert that their computers run “like new” thanks to this software.

Moments after installing it, I regretted not having paid the extra [. . . ] for Norton. Long story short, it all but ground my computer to a halt. Browsing the web became impossible. Even loading the least graphically-intensive pages took a maddeningly long time, and often resulted in my computer locking up. I had to shut it off (and not the proper way) numerous times while trying to get Defender Pro to work properly. I tried tweaking settings. No change.

Finally I e-mailed tech support inquiring about the refund. They were surprisingly unapologetic. They took no responsibility for their product’s side effects and inferred that I must have uninstalled Norton incorrectly. (Not the case. ) Having obtained instructions for returning the product, I attempt to uninstall it. . .

. . . and was furious to find that the program is equipped with a failsafe to prevent its being uninstalled. Now, whether or not this is an intentional feature or a programming error is irrelevant. The program will not allow me to uninstall it, and THAT is unacceptable. Every time I’ve tried, I’ve received an error message telling me that I do not have “permission” to uninstall a product from my own computer. This is a problem, considering that I have only a 30-day window in which to return the product for a refund.

I’m still waiting for tech support to reply to my e-mail regarding the uninstall difficulty. Regardless of how my situation plays out, the software saved me $20 but left me feeling like a victim of cyber-terrorism. Needless to say, I do NOT recommend it.

This software is a complete rip off (DON’T BUY IT). I bought December, 2009 with two year updates and it seemed to work ok. March 12, 2010 it refused to update after requesting updates. Even after having gone in advanced and clicked the box to make it update automatically, clicked apply and then clicked “ok”. I did this several times and once I left the screen I would receive a message, each time, saying “automatic update not available” even though this ability is clearly advertised on the box and within the software. What good is virus protection, etc. if it can not update?

The software is worthless and did not work well with anything about my computer (I bought in 2008) and I’m fairly knowledgeable of computers and software.

I contacted the company and received no response (this indicates to me they already know their software is worthless). Knowing my computer needed protection I immediately bought another virus protection software which works great and lives up to my expectations.

This is too expensive a lesson to learn (don’t give your hard earned money away). Even if you look at Defender Pro you are wasting your time and I simply can’t warn you enough about not purchasing.
