I installed this on Vista 64 – Ultimate. Installed the first time and works perfectly.

The software is straightforward and easy to use. Just read the question and answer it! That simple.

I would suggest that if you have a font size issue, that is coming from your computer’s set resolution. Change your PCs settings and it will fix that issue.

As with any software, ensure it will actually run on your computer. Check the minimum requirements against what you have. If you don’t have the minimums. . . . don’t waste your money. Also, remember that “minimums” are just that. If you only have the minimums for any software requirements you risk your PC running slow. . . it will run though. Also, you may want to consider not having other programs open while running it–that is a rule-of-thumb, if you find your PC running slow while using any program. If you don’t have enough RAM (memory) in your machine, any program will appear sluggish or worse.

Final thoughts on this product: great software. I will buy next year’s.

March 2: This is our 5th year using TaxCut products. . . always get better results in our favor than with TurboTax (we bought both programs for a couple of years). The Premium Business version comes with two separately installed programs: one for personal taxes and one for business. It is true that the Amazon system requires you to download and install a childish “installer” program, just like last year. This took less than 20 seconds to complete on broadband. The TaxCut programs downloaded in less than 60 seconds. You must manually click each of the two program’s installer icons. Total installation time less than 2 minutes. The installation of the busines program requires a PC restart. The personal tax program is excellent, easy to use, and thorough. The business tax program is accurate, but gives you the “feeling” that H&R Block doesn’t really care about businesses. It is semi-clumsy, not very intuitive, and definitely short on internal “Help” details. If you shlock your way through it will provide happy results. See me attached comments for a note about the child tax credit feature.

March 7: Done working with personal tax portion. Opened Business program today and on a broadband connection where I can download a movie in 20 seconds, H&R Block took 15 minutes to download the complete update. Wow.

This review is concerning the Download Version of the product:

I am using the software for several years now and this year I decided to test the business package as well. The installation of the Home Premium portion worked just fine. (Under Windows 7 Ultimate – 32bit).

Suggestion: The readme. txt file could be updated in accordance to the proper names to be found within the setup folder. (Not a major issue but it shows the lack of care in this area. )

Then the attempt to install the Home Business 2009 portion of the package. I tried all kinds of ways to get this done successfully, by double-clicking, by running as admin, after cleaning the local temp folder prior of running the executable.

Result: It never does complete. The “Installing Setup Files” message box stays on the screen forever. The windows task manager shows a running application but that is as far as it goes.

    Conclusion:

How good is a software when you can’t even finish the installation routine successfully?? I think that speaks for itself.

I will try to find a solution for this problem within the next couple days, but without any error message logged in the event log, that is going to be a bit of a challenge.

    Current state:

The business part of the program is useless for me.

Did anyone out there make similar experience with the exact same installer under Windows 7?

I’ve used Tax Cut now H&R at Home since 2002. So I expect it to be similar in ease of use. But I do want to comment on the down load procedure. I’ve purchased MP3s and Video on Demand from Amazon in the past and each had their own downloader, so it was no surprise that a software download would also have its own downloader. There whole process, download to install, took only 20 minutes and wasn’t any more difficult than either of the other two download procedure.

I’m using this package for filing for an LLC, an S-Corp, and personal taxes. Most functions seem to be covered, however, things are not a intutitive as I had expected. The worst thing about the software is that the various “buttons” you must click on do even come close to lining up with the subject matter. This makes the chances of a mistake very, very, high. I really can’t understand how any quality control department could possibly let this type of mistake out of the door! Allowing such an obvious error makes me wonder about the quality of the rest of the software which is not readily apparent. Overall the software appears to be usable, but be extremely careful in using it!
