Several weeks ago I purchased a Dell Mini 10 netbook which came with a free trial version of McAfee Antivirus pre-installed. Since it was free (for a limited time), I went ahead and installed it as soon as I took the netbook out of the box. For the past several weeks I have done nothing but complain about the netbook. Every operation (internet, Word, Outlook, etc. ) launched and operated brutally slow. Viewing web pages on the internet was like going back to the days of my old dial-up modem – - I would sit there for literally minutes waiting for a simple webpage to install. Word would launch slowly and working within documents was miserable. I was seriously giving thought to calling Dell to complain or return the netbook.

Well, the free trial version of McAfee expired after 30 days and rather than purchase continuing coverage I decided to uninstall McAfee and install a copy of Norton instead. That was a very smart move on my part. Suddenly, my netbook was operating blazingly fast. All programs launched quickly and webpages loaded almost instantly. My apologies to Dell for thinking it was a problem with their netbook (The Dell Mini 10 is great!), although I do blame Dell for selling this netbook with AntiVirus software that so miserably bogs down its system.

I cannot recommend McAfee Antivirus to anyone for any reason. There are many other alternatives available that do not hog system resources and bog down your computer as much as McAfee. (Norton 2010 is very highly rated and I currently have it installed on all of my computers). Check out the Amazon reviews and make a wise purchase.

Faast shipping on a great AV for a great price, much less $ than a local purchase.

Was very satisfied with the prompt delivery and packaging. One thing I liked was that after making a mistake with registration, it was easy to get help on line. Mcaffe updates the program often which is good. CT

Had McAfee previously on my computer but when I tried to install this product it would not install. But it did completely screw up my operating system. I could no longer access any programs or internet, not even system retore. I had to completely reinstall my operating system and all my programs. It took me a week just to get my computer running again. Even after reinstalling my entire operating system, it still would not install. Had to install a different antivirus all together. It would have been easier just to throw my $24 out the window. I will never use McAfee again.

Installed with no issues on XP computer. Was much cheaper to buy this new product than to renew the existing contract for another year even tho’ Norton owns McAfee. Go figure. The title was a bit misleading at first as I thought it would be for two computers (as it says: Plus ONE user) but I read the evaluations before ordering and knew that to not be the case.
It has worked flawlessly with no slowdowns on the computer as with previous programs. A good deal.
